Aug 26, 2002	Afghanistan Year 1380 Presented by The IRC and the San Diego Public Library - Filmed in Afghanistan in 2001 and early 2002, this documentary follows the continuing challenges for surgeon Gino Strada and medical coordinator Kate Rowlands, from the human rights group "Emergency." In an attempt to guarantee medical and humanitarian support to civilian war victims, they joined forces to set up a hospital in Kabul, only to see the facility shut down by the Taliban. In October, 2001, even with the city under heavy attack, they re-opened the installation. Certain scenes in the film are very graphics.
