Apr 2, 03 Mohmand show at Hothouse
Engineer Mohmand, originally from Afghanistan, was forced to seek
political asylum in the U.S. due to the Taliban Regime's ban on all music in his country and the anti-violence message he preached. He is an accomplished Pashtun Folk & Ghazal singer and plays the ancient musical instrument called a "Rabâb," as well as harmonium and tabla. He has a self-titled CD out, and has made appearances on Afghani, Pakastani & American Television, BBC London & Voice of America, as well as concerts in his homeland and abroad.

Mar 28-31, 03 MASSOUD, THE AFGHAN
A legendary documentary portrait of the charismatic anti-Taliban leader of the Northern Alliance, Ahmed Shah Massoud, assassinated purportedly on the orders of Osama bin Laden. The filmmaker gives
a fascinating first-person account of eight visits to Afghanistan over a 17-year period interviewing this unlikely guerilla hero,
who was abandoned by the West. It is an extraordinary journey, punctuated by the filmmaker's trenchant thoughts on the failure
of the West to support Massoud and his followers over more than two decades.
